Erin attended and graduated from Florida International University in Miami with a Bachelor of Scince with honors in 1995. Erin came to Atlanta in 1996 and began work in the Department of Anesthesiology at Emory University as a clinical research assistant before beginning the Physician Assistant program at Emory in 1999.
Erin previously worked as a consultant and clinical trials coordinator for Genzyme Corporation on a variety of research protocols. Upon graduating from Emory in 2001 with a Master of Medical Science, she accepted a position as a Physician Assistant in Neurosurgery in private practice at Piedmont hospital, and then later came to work with Dr. Khajavi in the beginning of 2004.
Erin plays a critical role in the Outcomes Database here at Georgia Spine and Neurosurgery. All of our surgical patients participate in this program, which allows us to gather information pre and post surgical. This data helps Georgia Spine & Neurosurgery providers access the effectiveness of the procedure and the impact it has on the patient's quality of life. Our patient's affectionately refer to the program as our "pay it forward" database since the results ensure that we are offering the right procedure for the right reasons to patients in the future.
Erin authored an article on Breast Fibroadenomas which has been published in the peer-reviewed journal Physician Assistant, and is currently writing a paper on the treatment of painful vertebral compression fractures. In her spare time, Erin enjoys playing with and taking care of her nine-year-old African parrot, Diggs. When she is able to return to Florida, she tries to get in as much scuba diving as possible.
